Give Me Some BonChon
I seriously cannot remember the last time I had fried chicken. Y’all this is a foreign concept for me because I grew with – in my opinion – the best fried chicken in the world. My mom knows how to make the most delicious fried chicken I’ve ever tasted people. (Y’all are invited the next time she makes them.) However…(don’t tell my mom I said this) after trying some Bonchon Chicken, I think I have found my second favorite fried chicken.
I’m not one to indulge in restaurant fried chicken because, to be honest, fried chicken is one of those things always taste better in the comfort of someone’s home. To top it off, I usually don’t prefer sweet fried chicken.
So why do I even like BonChon? I wish I knew guys. Maybe of the crispy texture of chicken or the fact that after three bits I can begin to sense the spicy heat building up from behind my throat? Regardless, I’m a fan and not just of the chicken.
I ordered the Salmon Avocado Roll which I didn’t really expect to be a fan off because I typically associate salmon and avocado with sushi or poke bowls. Now let me tell, this was ridiculously delicious. In fact, I didn’t want to share, and I ever go to BonChon with you, you better expect that I wouldn’t be sharing this. The salmon avocado roll has become one of my favorite things to get here because franchised establishments typically don’t make food so delicious that you can taste the authenticity of the ingredients and the way the dish is prepared. Trust me on this one, it’s worth trying.
Now onto the atmosphere, the make or break it part. After looking online, I noticed that BonChon is actually located throughout the United States, so chances are there is probably one close to you. Though from my experience just because one dish tastes a certain one at one franchise doesn’t mean the food will taste the same elsewhere. That also goes for the atmosphere.
I love that when I stopped by, I was able to get seating outside (the weather was beautiful), but the interior of the restaurant has an earthy, stoic, and yet inviting feel to it. It’s almost like going to a Korean American fusion which actually makes sense when you see what is offered in the menus. I definitely recommend for a first date, girl’s night, guy’s night, or family dinner (if the kiddos aren’t in elementary school).
Here are my ratings on from BonChon (Arlington, VA & Naval Yard)
