A Touch of the Mediterrianian

When I was in high school, I used to tell my parents that I believed that in my past life I was either Italian or Greek because of my love for pasta and the authenticity of Greek cuisine. Now, I don't know if I was had ancestors from the Mediterranean in my past, but my passion for all things Greek hasn't departed me. From the study of Greek mythology and the great philosophers that have contributed to what we now use in our western culture to the terrain and agriculture of the peninsula and it's islands.

Now that you know how much I adore the Greek culture, it should not be a surprise that I will be adding Galazio to my list of all-time favorite Mediterranean restaurants.

I could focus the food and the price structure of the food from Galazio, but I'd instead begin with my favorite part: the family atmosphere. When we stopped by for lunch, the waiter not only smiled at us and said hello (I know it's fascinating that I'm geeking out about pleasantry of the front of the house) and asked how I was doing. The owner came out and had real conversations with us. He shared with us the history of the restaurant and where the recipes came from. To top it off, his family was at the restaurant and shared with us their love for their native country, Greece. Talk about top-notch service!

Now, I'm probably one of the weirdest pizza lover out there. I don't like regular pizza, like American pizza isn't that thrilling for me. I can do New York-style pizza but that's about it. (I probably got over the pizza hype because I had it so much in school.) See, my favorite type of pizza is flatbread with cheese, tomatoes, arugula, and some form of protein. (I guess I'm a picky eater when it comes to pizza; side note: Hawaiian pizza is not my thing and I'm not even going entertain a conversation about it cause pineapples on my pizza…why would you torcher me like that?!) Imagine how glad I was when we ordered pizza and found out that not only was it flatbread style but it was cooked in the fire brick wood-fired pizza oven?! I was ecstatic, to say the least.

Entree: Nemesis & Traditional Lamb Chops

Wine: Taylor Fladgate 20 Year | Tawny Port | Douro Valley, Portugal

Though I recommend everything we ordered, I would love to encourage everyone to try everything they can on the menu or to ask the team what their favorite dishes are.

**I recommend Galazio for families, couples, and even for taking yourself on a date because of how inviting it is and yet there are areas that are perfect for dates.
