On Sundays We Have Pho

Yes, I have a problem. I have a pho problem guys. I don't know whether I want to get cured for this or continue to let it linger until I cannot take it any longer.

From my previous post about pho, it is no surprise that I love the delicious warm soup made with flavored and preserved timely and filled with rice noodles and the occasional proteins. Seeing that I have been on the hunt to find all the fantastic pho shops in the DMV, I wanted to share with you all one of my newest favorite spots. Funny, this place was right underneath my nose.

Sunday at Saigon is not what I expected it to be. I had heard many of my acquaintance mention coming to dinner here, it wasn't until I met up with one of my closest friends for dinner that I was able to understand what all the hype was about.

For a place that is well known for their pho, I wasn't expecting such eloquent decor and atmosphere. Typically whenever I visit a restaurant specifically for the purpose of authentic Asian style noodles, I think of whole in the wall simple places. However, Sunday at Saigon proved to different from all the places I had visited prior. In a way, I wished I came here earlier because the atmosphere is beautiful and perfect for not just date nights with my squad but for actual date night.

The customer service was much better than the majority of the pho establishments I've visited (except for my top 15; I cannot wait to share those with you all) tend to have a different view of exceptional customer service. Sunday at Siagon is the very few that the customer service had me grinning from ear to ear.

When I visited, I had the original pho, and my best friend ordered the pho chay. We both enjoyed our meals, and the helpings were quite generous (another reason why I love pho so much)! Since being back a couple more times, I will recommend the following (I can't say much for everything on the menu since I haven't had everything, yet):

  • Goi Ca

  • Nem Nuong

  • Xa Lach Son Thit Bo

  • Mang Tay Xao Toi

  • Mix Xoa Toi

  • Pho

  • Bun Bo Hue

  • Mien Cua

Snap, there is one fantastic thing about Sunday at Saigon that I must share with all my nutritionally conscientious people out there: the menu has more than enough vegetarian and gluten-free options. If you are planning dinner with those who have specific diets, these options will be quite helpful.

As always, here are my breakdowns:

REVIEW*:

Customer Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ( I did wish that my waiters would speak to me more often, but I understand that it's due to respect)

Food: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ( I'm finding it harder to give full stars to any pho restaurant outside of my number choice)

Price: ⭐⭐⭐⭐( there are other inexpensive places to get pho)

Atmosphere: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

**I recommend coming here with people though there's nothing like taking yourself out on a date as well. You'll be surprised how happy you'll be when you
