Cozy and Delicious: Busboys and Poets

Privacy is a luxury.

I've been hearing that a lot in my mind lately. Probably since the older I get, the more exclusive I am with my support system and what I choose to share.

One of the perks of having a fantastic support system is how understanding, patient, compassionate, honest, and vulnerable they are. I mean, being able to spend time with one another and share our struggles and accomplishments while respecting and cheering each other on is priceless. Having a wonderful group of humans around you should be celebrated, and I've come to learn that I do that best when I take my loved ones on personalized dates. Recently, one of my ladies and I decided that we should take each other on a date. So we did.

It started with going to see The Lion King (guys, you have got to see this movie; I mean, it has always been my favorite movie of all time, but wow, Disney has officially slain my life), going into ladies night out with the rest of the squad and then brunch the next day at one of my favorite places in Shirlington: Busboys and Poets.

The first time I came to Busboys, I thought, “this place is quaint and comfy.” I think that's why I've been coming back. I adore how cozy the atmosphere is and how kind all the employees are.

I recommend this place not only because of how popular it is now but because of how inclusive it is. I mainly come in for brunch, but the breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus are just as amazing! The menus have gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options, so almost anyone in your contact list may enjoy a meal here.

Whenever I stop in, I instantly want French toast, pancakes, grits, and eggs. (there's something about breakfast food which I cannot stay away from; side note, who even counts carbs except for health and when you're competing?) Busboys also serve adult beverages, so while the kiddos enjoy something simple, you can enjoy your brunch with a drink. But my favorite part of this restaurant is the nook section.

I'm a sucker for any place that features books you can read and/or purchase (even though, I'm still finishing the books I bought earlier this year). Whenever I stop in, there's always a book on one of the shelves that I want to check out while I'm waiting in line to be seated.

If you're a lover of intimate family settings where everyone is in a positive mood and is comfortable and relaxed then Busboys and Poets need to be on your list of favorite restaurants in Northern Virginia.

Price: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (affordable as heck and your wallet will thank you for choosing here over the boujee restaurants that serve small meals; who's going to be full with that?)

Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

*Side note: make sure to try their sweet potato pancakes! Those things are ridiculously delicious.
