Authenticity Is the Key to Mumbai
Who else likes spicy food as much as I do? I think I'm going to make it my new mission to try out every authentic spicy dish around the world here in D.C. It's amazing how can just walk out and have at least three different dishes from three different nations right in front of me. Though I've tried some of the popular places there was one nationality I had yet to visit: India. Funny thing is that everyone recommends it for me because I just love me some spicy food🌶️🍛!
Recently we went to one in Alexandria and I have been recommending it since: Mumbai Darbar Indian Cuisine!
I just love hole in the wall places and this is exactly what I got when I first walked in. The restaurant feels family owned and quant. The hosts was smiling and inviting when we arrived which speaks volumes to me.
I will let you know, the food was delicious! I literally felt like I went over to the home of an actually Indian family and was eating what was prepared from their kitchen. We ended up ordering the Butter Chicken and the Shrimp Curry which were both excellent choices. The waiter and I both recommended the Butter Chicken if you're first trying Indian food. I will be returning for more on this menu because of how inexpensive the entrees are.
Causal atmosphere so you don't have to dress formal however...
a causal dinner date would be wonderful here too.
bring cash because based on how well the customer service is, you will definitely want to tip your waiter!
A group date/ dinner with your friends would be best here too because the menu is budget friendly for all people.
