A Lesson from an Imperfect Person: Treasure It All

We tend to waste our time and energy on issues wouldn't matter. We allow great people and opportunities to slip through our grasp. But instead of learning what needed to be discovered we like to cover up mistakes with guilt, fear, anger, and regret.

I want to be different. I want you to be different. No more guilt, fear, anger, or regret because they do not come from Christ. Instead, when we realize why we made the mistakes we did or why God is having us go through the seasons we're in, let's replace guilt with gratitude. Replace fear with faith. Replace anger with patience. Replace regret with wisdom.

Don't Waste Your Time: It's an Inside Job

I want to tell you a harsh, honest, time saving, heartache preventing truth that I refused to embrace for years…until now: happiness, fulfillment, and everything that brings you to the best version of yourself is an inside job.

[…]there are way too many people in this world getting jobs, making decisions, getting into relationships, and selecting choices that they are using to fill the unbearable pain that that is caused when true peace, joy, love, and happiness is missing.

I've become very aware (I really wanted to use, but I don't want to be dramatic) of how easy it is to allow yourself to hop from one experience to another in a (for lack of better words) foolish way.

re·bound

/rəˈbound,ˈrēˌbound/

verb

recover in value, amount, or strength after a previous decrease or decline.

You've got to pause on the possible relationships, pray rigorously about that new job, and take that opportunity to the altar before you say yes. And while you do those things, listen attentively (I cannot emphasize this enough) to the Holy Spirit.

Slayin' & Slayed

Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him. Even so, I will defend my own ways before Him. He also shall be my salvation, For a hypocrite could not come before Him.

- Job 13: 15 (CSB)

[It is] integrity and faith (not works and actions) [that] pleases the Lord even in the midst of storms.

God doesn't need people to speak for him, he chooses to have his Word and his love vocalized through his servants. He's God, he knows what he's doing better than any of us will ever comprehend. Ask your artist what He's painting on the canvas of your life.

[…]No level of work, sacrifice, holiness, or anything you do will exempt you from being tried in your walk with Christ.

[…]You don't owe people an explanation, and you don't owe people jack when it comes to why you do things the way you do or what God is doing in your life.

What They Don't Tell You When You Say Yes

“Following Jesus is the easiest thing I've ever done.” - said no one!

Picture this:

You're in a beautiful dress that cost more than your car. Your hair has been done in such a beautiful way that you didn't even know people could get their hair done in such a way just for an event. All your favorite people are looking at you with eyes that say, “wow she did it!” (Wait, there is that one cousin, you know the one sitting next to your favorite uncle. Yeah, we know she can't wait to talk about how better her celebration will be. But it's cool, today is your day to say yes.) And now you see him. Yes, this being that you have been looking forward to seeing today. This is the man that you are ready to do life with.

What does this sound like? A wedding? Well…it's about my baptism (idk about the cousin part though; that was just me being extra).

To The One Who Wanted To Give Up

I…have...been...there and it sucks!

I wish I could perform a psychological surgery and remove this depressive mental state away. But...it doesn't work that way.

They have all sacrificed everything for me. Each person I have mentioned has laid down everything in hopes of seeing me and seeing me live this life to the fullest.

It was the reminder that my mother and father sacrificed their comfortable home in Ghana for my education, joy, and success. It was the reminder that my brother, though 9 years younger than me, looks up to me and wants to see me make it in everything I set my mind to. It was the reminder that all the beautiful humans that called me friend valued the genuine smile they initially fell in love with. It was the reminder on the day that she left this earth, the day my grandmother completed her mission, that I recalled that nothing, absolutely nothing, in this world would make her happier than to see me ( broken, hurting, and ratchet in all) living a life that is filled with joy and hope.

I..have...been...there.
