You’ve Gotta Give Some to Yourself

“Abigail, you need to forgive yourself.”

I began realizing that it wasn't just in my head, and I started asking:

"How do I forgive myself? What is it that I need to forgive myself for?"

I've come to realize that the reason why I find it easier to forgive others but struggle to forgive myself is due to the standard in which I hold myself to, knowing my potential in contrast to my choices, and trusting myself.

It is in our imperfections that our true beauty and strength lies.

Would You Choose to Love Someone Who'd Never Choose You?

If you knew that no matter how long you love someone, (what you do for them, how many times you tell them that you love them,) that they would never choose you and would never love you, would you continue to love them for eternity? Would you want to sacrifice your time and energy for those who would never accept you? Would you continue to pursue someone who you knew, come rain or shine, they would never say yes to you?

[…]if someone says no to us, we reject them. Some of us put up a good fight, but we stop eventually because we weren't as crucial to the one we wanted to be accepted by as we hoped. This is our nature.

Jesus is the anomaly of us. He knew while he was hanging on that cross that many will reject his sacrifice and love. Y'all, God knew that not everyone would say yes to Jesus, but he chooses to love regardless of it.

[…]Saying, "Hey Jesus, I'm with you," is to say, "even if no person says yes to me Lord, I want to keep pursuing your children with eyes like yours, heart like the one you have, and acceptance that has no prerequisites."

I Am Sorry

Healing is one of the hardest journeys I've ever had to go on, and it doesn't stop when the tears end.[…]

I've never exposed myself this much before this season of my life and these past 8 months, and it isn't easy. However, this adventure has been the most humbling and strengthen experience of my life. […]

it wasn't until I had said my goodbyes, driven 5 minutes away from camp, and played the beautiful song one camper dedicated to the experience, that I was able to let myself cry. […]

it is when you stop fighting the storm that you can sit in the eye of the hurricane and make it to the end so that you may witness the beautiful rainbow God has designed.

What It Is to Be a Sexy Christian

Sexy: to embrace and display who one is from within by exuding outwardly of the confidence, self-assurance, self-love, and authority that one has.

When you and I are in our elements, accepting and believing in who God has created us to be, we become undeniably sexy. I find it a beautiful state of being.

To be unapologetically confident in the Word of God, the promise of God, the power of the Lord, and the love of Christ is sexy to me. This is a new and real level of sexy that cannot be taken away by what others perceive of you. This level of sexy is what causes mountains to shake and rivers to roar. This type of sexy is to be reckoned with because it's a type of sexy that belongs to you through the gift of your salvation in Christ. It's an eternal type of sexy.

The Stories You Choose to Share

There is a sense of confidence that is developed when one chooses to take ownership for what has happened in their life. We must use those moments to make our quilt of life as beautiful as possible. But this quilt cannot be produced unless we allow ourselves to look dead on at what has happened, how it made us feel, what lessons were meant to be learned from them, and in what ways will we be using the lessons acquired by the experience.

There is a price you'll pay to tell your story your way. But my dear, it is worth it! Your liberation and freedom are worth it all. There is a level of respect and love that you owe to yourself and it requires that you share the story that God has placed within you.

Embrace that you survived when what you went through was meant to kill you (emotionally, psychologically, or/and physically). Tell your story.
